Wrentham Select Board approves $5 million note for new elementary school, hears Norwood Hospital update. Treasurer Collector Kathy Nelson said TD Financial Products LLC won the one-year bond anticipation note at a 2.84 percent net interest cost to begin financing the Roderick Elementary School project, approved by voters in June. Norwood Town Manager Tony Mazzucco told the board newly signed state legislation, House Bill 553, sets a November 1 deadline for Norwood Hospital's owner to sell before the state takes the shuttered facility by eminent domain.

The board also approved, 4-0, one children-at-play sign each on Blake and Fisher roads after resident Jordan Wiggin's petition, and appointed Kathleen Bellici to the Cultural Council. Clerk Bill Harrington said he opposed a Rice Complex field-lighting grant over what he called the recreation department's lack of "transparency," and flagged a town counsel opinion questioning whether Community Preservation Act funds can legally cover Merrill Lake weed treatment.
