WRENTHAM — Recreation Commission approves $107,800 contract with New England Veterans Football Club. Recreation Director Jeffrey Plympton reported the club will host an adult soccer tournament at the Rice Complex over Labor Day weekend, September 3-7, 2026, with 40 teams from the US and Canada playing on ten fields, with food vendors and entertainment in the parking lot. The commission also discussed plans for Rice Complex expansion to offset the approximate five-year closure of two baseball fields at Sweatt Complex due to Roderick School construction, with the expansion project requesting funding at the June town meeting based on design work by Clough, Harbour and Associates.
